Passion Stories with Free To Flourish
Welcome to the Passion Stories Podcast, a conversational series that features people who have made career transitions into work they feel fulfilled with, or started their own passion business.
We talk about when they decided to make the change, why they do the work they do, what helped them overcome obstacles with the transition, and any tips that they would give to others sitting on the idea of making these big changes.
People from the environmental, social change, health and wellness, and creative industries come on to share their story in hopes to inspire others to go after their own professional dreams.

Baltimore Chef: David Thomas
My long time friend Chef David Thomas, and winner of the Food Network’s TV series, Chopped, shares his journey as a chef and entrepreneur and how he has found success and overcome obstacles with pursuing his passions. His work is centered on celebrating and reclaiming African American food culture.
I originally chatted with David in this conversation over on his Modern Conversations where he talks to different black folks who are paving the way in the food industry. I love the work he does and how he continues to find success and satisfaction in the projects and businesses that he has created. The most recent one was his restaurant, Ida B’s Table, located in downtown Baltimore, which celebrated soul food and was a space to honor the famous black feminist and journalist, Ida B Wells.
Most recently David and his wife and business partner, @ladytthomas77, are working on an amazing project with the @muloma.heritage center, a non-profit being developed in St. Helena,SC as a way to intersect culture, cuisine, ecology, sustainability, and ultimately highlight the stories of African American traditions. His wife and him are a dream team and also running the @h3irloom_baltimore, a multidimensional catering company that continues to align with the passion of celebrating African American food culture.
